Cornelius Agrippa's Jupiter Talisman
for Prosperity and Good Fortune
Fortune, the great commandress of the world,
Hath divers ways to advance her followers:
To some she gives honour without deserving,
To other some, deserving without honour.
George Chapman
As we pass into March and April of 2002 we have a number
of excellent opportunities to create talismans of
Jupiter, the Greater Benefic.
If you are interested in a Jupiter talisman here is
further information.
I am pleased to be able
to feature the Jupiter Image of the
talented artist and occult researcher
Nigel Jackson. The image of Fortune and
her wheel at above right comes from the beautiful Nigel Jackson Tarot available
from
Amazon.com.
The English astrologer
William Lilly says that Jupiter, when well dignified, signifies,
"...Then is he Magnanimous, Faithfull, Bashfull, Aspiring in an
honourable way at high matters, in all his actions a Lover of fair Dealing,
desiring to benefit all men, doing
Glorious things, Honourable and Religious, of sweet and affable Conversation,
wonderfully indulgent to
his Wife and Children, reverencing Aged men, a great Reliever of the Poor,
full of Charity and
Godlinesse, Liberal, hating all Sordid actions, Just, Wife, Prudent, Thankfull,
Vertuous..."
Christian Astrology, page 62.
The Renaissance mage
Cornelius Agrippa says that a talisman of Jupiter,
"[C]onduceth to gain, and
riches, favor, and love, peace, and concord, and to appease enemies,
to confirm honors, dignities, and counsels..."
Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Bk II, Chapter 22.
The time chosen for
the election is March 17, 2002 at 11:18 am EST in Washington,
D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03. It's nice to finally have an election
that's not at the crack of dawn!
Jupiter is conjunct the Ascendant
and well dignified in her exaltation
Cancer. It is also the
planetary hour
of Jupiter.
The Moon, important in any election,
is also dignified in her exaltation
Taurus and in the benefic
11th house.
The Moon is in partile sextile
with reception by exaltation with Jupiter. The Moon is waxing.
One less than perfect factor is the
fact that the Moon and Jupiter have just separated from their
sextile, though only by 3 minutes. This raises an interesting question.
Lilly says that separation takes effect when the significators are
six minutes apart. Christian Astrology page 110. On the other
hand, the medieval astrologer Guido Bonatti says that separation takes
effect when the significators are minute apart. Animae Astrologiae
17th Consideration (JustUs ed.) pages 8-9. In this case the strength,
placement and very close nature overcomes the separation.
