This week we take a break from
Electional Astrology, Astrological Magic and
Astrological Talismans and turn to traditional
Horary Astrology. Horary astrology typically begins with the
time of the birth of a question, rather than the birth of a person and judges the answer
to the question from a chart of the time of its asking. It is also possible to judge
the outcome of events from the chart of their occurence.
In May of 2001 Washington and then the entire country seemed
obsessed with the disappearance of Chandra Levy. It was not until a year later, in
May 2002, that Chandra's body was discovered. See
Washington
Post May 22, 2002. The cause of death is still unknown.
In May of 2001, I analyzed two charts relating to the
disappearance of Chandra Levy. Below are analyses I wrote at that time for the
chart of the last e-mail she sent and the chart of the last time she was seen.
Chart of last e-mail, 10:45 am, May 1, 2001.
In this chart Cancer rises and the fixed star
Castor is on the ascendant.
Castor, says Robson, is of the nature of Mercury and if rising gives "blindness,
bad eyes, injuries to the face, disgrace, stabs, wounds and imprisonment.
Robson, Fixed Stars, page 155.
The ruler of the 1st, the Moon is peregrine
in the 2nd. Peregrine
literally means a stranger or traveler.
The Moon applies to oppose Uranus
in the 8th, conjunct the Death Point at 26 Aquarius, then a trine to Mars,
almuten of the 5th of pleasure and 7th of open enemies without reception, then
a square to Saturn, ruler of the 7th and 8th of death, without reception.
Saturn, natural significator of death, and
ruler of the 8th, is stronger than
the victim's significator, the Moon and positioned in the 11th of hopes and dreams.
I don't like the looks of this chart,
particularly the a square without reception between 1st and 8th rulers
with Saturn as 8th ruler.
Chart of time Chandra was last seen, 7:30 pm, April 30, 2001.
In this chart Scorpio rises
[never a good ascendant] and the ascendant
is in the Via Combusta, indicating troubles and difficulties.
The 1st ruler is Mars,
dignified by term and conjunct the 3rd house cusp.
Third house is short journeys. We note the presence of the malefic South
Node afflicting the 3rd and the victim's journey. Mars conjunct the malefic
fixed star Acumen of the nature of Mars and the Moon causing blindness. Robson, page 117.
The Moon is peregrine in the
10th house and conjunct the malefic fixed
star Acubens of the nature of Saturn and Mercury called "the sheltering
or hiding place" giving activity, malevolence and poisons and indicating
liars and criminals. Robson, page 116.
The Moon is mutually applying to a partill
square to retrograde Pluto,
the god of the underworld. Lilly says a mutual application is an "ill
application" showing sudden alteration in the question. Christian Astrology, page 107.
In modern horary Pluto indicates violence and can be an indication of violent death.
The next aspect of the Moon is a square to
8th ruler Mercury, with
strong reception by exaltation and face. [note that this is not mutual
reception, but I follow Bonatti and Mashallah, which is more in line
with the tradition than Lilly on this issue]. Mercury is in the 7th
and under the Sun's beams. Lilly says that contacts between 1st ruler
and 8th ruler, not surprisingly, indicate death. Christian Astrology, page 151.
First ruler Mars separates from a square of
12th ruler, Venus which
Lilly says indicates the victim "..hath lately been much troubled in
mind and in fear of imprisonment and arrest." Christian Astrology, page 151.
Lilly says that 8th ruler or a planet in the
8th show the quality of death.
Mercury in Taurus is the 8th ruler and Saturn and Jupiter in Gemini are in the 8th.
Normally Jupiter in the 8th would be quite helpful, but here he can do little,
and in fact may afflict the 8th being in detriment. Gemini is a humane
sign indicating death by man and an air sign indicating death from a fall
or strangling. Christian Astrology, page 645.
Taurus is also death by fall. Christian Astrology, page 645.
Location:
First ruler Mars is in Sagittarius,
which Lilly says represents "A Stable
of great Horses or Horses for the Wars, or a House where usually great
foure-footed beasts are kept" This is interesting as the U.S. Park Police
have a stable and training ground nearby in Rock Creek Park. Sagittarius
also represents fields, hills and the highest part of grounds and houses.
The Moon is in Leo
which is woods & forests, steep rocky places, castles,
forts and parks, also in modern astrology, zoos and the National Zoo is
also nearby in Rock Creek Park.
The Moon is angular in 10th, so nearby.
Mars in the 3rd, in the victim's neighborhood.
Both the Moon and Mars are on the cusps of
their respective houses, so
victim may be in between walls, rocks, or behind something.
Sagittarius = SE, Leo = NE 3rd house =
NNE 10th house = S
The Zoo and Park Police stable are
nearby basically North, but more to
the East than West.
So victim is nearby, and up higher.
The victim is behind or between something.
Washington in this area is quite hilly and Rock Creek has some very steep ravines.
Rock Creek Park is quite long though not too wide and has lots of woods and trails also
the Park Police stable and the Zoo are in Rock Creek.

[The following story appeared in the Washington Poston Monday, July 16, 2001; Page B01]
Levy Looked Up Map Of a Rock Creek Site
Intern Was on Computer May 1, D.C. Police Say
Chandra Levy looked up a map site on the Internet
for the Klingle Mansion in Rock Creek Park before logging off her laptop
computer for the last time, a senior police official said yesterday.
[After reading the above news story I added the following analysis]
Looking at my map of Rock Creek Park I note
that north of the Zoo and Klingle
Mansion there are a number of civilian riding facilities including an
"Equitation Field", trails and the Horse Center. The information about
Klingle Mansion now leads me to believe that the victim is north of the Zoo,
but south of the Horse Center.
Results
Just as predicted Chandra Levy was dead, was nearby, was
in Rock Creek Park, was north of the Zoo and south of the Horse Center and was found on a
high, wooded, rocky slope.
