Introduction
In the
Neoplatonic/Hermetic worldview the heavenly bodies were the
essential link between the World of the Divine Ideas and the Material World. The
astrologer uses these these sympathies and interconnections for the predictions
using natal, mundane and horary astrology.
These types
of traditional astrology focus on Fate: asking what will or has happened? Even
electional astrology which allows us to choose
astrologically propitious time to take action, like the other varieties of
astrology, is essentially passive as the astrologer merely observes the action
of the Divine ideas mediated through the Zodiacal powers on the material and sublunary
realm.
A
strological magic, however, through the construction
of astrological talismans allows the mage or
magical astrologer to directly affect and utilize the chains of sympathy and correspondence
that permeate the Cosmos. By choosing an astrologically propitious times through
electional astrology and constructing talismans with
appropriate characters, signs, and symbols as well as appropriate fumigations, rituals
and music, a wide variety of effects can be achieved.

The Fixed Stars

In medieval and Renaissance astrology the sphere of the
fixed stars was placed above the highest planetary sphere, that of
Saturn. The fixed stars made up the constellations
and Signs of the Zodiac. They played an
important role in astrological magic
and astrological talismans. Here is

Sirius and
Algol.

The Renaissance mage
Cornelius Agrippa says,
"Under the Spike [Spica] they
made the image of a bird, or a man laden with merchandise; it conferreth riches,
and maketh one overcome contentions, it taketh away scarcity and mischief."

How Is the Spica Talisman Made?

The first step in making the Spica talisman
is to select a date
and time when the Moon is either applying to a conjunction, sextile or trine of Spica,
located at 23 Libra 50.
At our chosen time we engrave the image of Spica
on a silver plate. I have chosen silver because it is a generally acceptable
precious metal for talismans. We then add the character of Spica and consecrate
the talisman with a ritual. As emeralds are the stone of Spica, the
Spica talisman can be made with an emerald bead necklace for an extra charge.
Do You Mass Produce Talismans?

Each talisman is unique and engraved by hand for an individual
client. If possible, I will examine the birth chart of each client in order to
calibrate the talisman to each individual.
In addition, the election of a time for making talismans is not
based merely on a single astrological factor, like the phases of the Moon, but a
full traditional astrological analysis encompassing many factors.
There are occasions, however, when the astrological factors are so
favorable that I will make a limited number of talismans without being requested
by a client. A good example are the talismans for
Passion & Harmony in Love & Marriage.

Do Talismans Work?

You can judge for yourself. Recently a student of mine
wished to attract the favor of a high government official. Using the image of
the 7th Mansion, Aldira, from my
Mansions of the Moon Mini-Course he put this image on one side and a
photograph of the offical on the other, creating this image and doing the
appropriate ritual at the proper time.
That very day the official called him, after not speaking to
him for two weeks. The official then visited, hired my student and within a week
arranged for a large loan.
