Area Sniper Attack Astrological Event Chart Analyses
This week we take a break from
Electional Astrology, Astrological Magic and
Astrological Talismans and turn to
Event Charts. Event charts are judged using rules
similar to Horary Astrology. Horary astrology typically begins with the
time of the birth of a question, rather than the birth of a person and judges the answer
to the question from a chart of the time of its asking. It is also possible to judge
the outcome of events from the chart of their occurence. You can take a look at

In Sniper Charts One
I analyzed the October 2-11, 2002 Washington area sniper attacks.
What was readily obvious about the previous charts analyzed
was the prominence of Venus,
either as ruler of the Ascendant or conjunct the Ascendant.
As we look at the latests chart, for 10/19/02 and
10/22/02 we notice
again that Taurus and then Libra rise respectively
and thus, Venus is the ruler of the Ascendant.
Similarly, if we examine the very
first chart, which I omitted from the previous week'
because no one was injured, once again, we see that Venus is the ruler of the
Ascendant, being almuten of the fourth degree of Pisces by day.
The 10/14/02 shooting does not fit the Venus pattern,
except that Venus is the ruler of the 12th of secret enemies. We note that the 10/3/02
9:20 pm shooting, the only other chart not to have significant Venus involvement
also had Gemini rising.
We have already noted that Venus is in
Scorpio, which
William Lilly the 17th century English astrologer when
discussing astrological indications of death says is a violent sign.
Christian Astrology, page 644.
Venus is also severely afflicted by being in detriment
in Scorpio and conjunct the violent fixed star, Zuben Elgenubi, the South Scale or
Southern Claws of the Scorpion. Lilly lists it (under chelae "claws")
as a star indicating violent death.

Ptolemy, the 2nd century astrologer,
says that the South Scale is of the nature of Saturn and Mars,
both malefic planets. Tetrabiblos Book I, Chapter 9 (Loeb) page 51.
Vivian Robson says that when conjunct Venus, the South
Scale indicates, "...sudden and secret death..."

So given the prominence of Venus in so many charts, what
does this tell us? First, it is doubtful that the sniper is consciously timing by
astrology, particular since even the use of an Ascendant takes some knowledge of
astrology beyond a pop level and almutens are a technique known only to traditional
(i.e. pre-1700) astrologers. Very few astrologers are even aware of this technique.
Venus as a feminine planet often indicates the involvement
of women and I mentioned the possibility of a female accomplice in the previous set
of analyses. Still Venus can, of course, signify a man. With regard to death
Ptolemy gives us some additional indications for Venus noting deaths because of
women or murderers of women as well as poisoning and feminine plots. Tetrabiblos
Bk. IV, Chapter 9. We also mentioned the sexual or rather lustful implications
of Venus in Scorpio.
Having another week to ponder these issues I really wonder
how much Venus is saying about the sniper as opposed to his victims. They all died
(or were injured) violently, suddenly and in a secretive, cunning and elusive manner.
The charts very clearly express this. Beyond this we are forced to speculate regarding
the sniper.
We can, however, set forth the times at which the sniper
will strike.
Libra Rising (October 22, 2002) 5:05 am - 7:29 am
Venus conjunct Ascendant (October 22, 2002) exact at 8:39 am, within 5 degrees from
8:09 am to 9:00 am
0-7 degrees of Pisces [Venus almuten or co-ruler for these degrees] (October 22, 2002)

Taurus Rising (October 22, 2002) 6:17 pm to 7:42 pm
These times shift about 4 minutes earlier each day.
I also wanted to comment about the Tarot Death card,
apparently left by the sniper at the scene of one of the shootings. The "Tarot"
community has been widely quoted as saying that this card doesn't mean death, instead
it only indicates "transition" or "change". While I do think that the Death card
does indicate change, it can hardly be denied that Death is indeed a transition or
change. This fear of death and death prediction appears to be a feature of
New Age/modern divination in general, shared by both modern Tarot readers and astrologers.
James Revak has thoughtfully assembled three pre-New Age
texts on Tarot: Etteilla and his school of disciples (late eighteenth century);
Mathers’ The Tarot (1888); and Waite’s The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1911).
At Death Revak provides their listed
meanings for the Death card. Waite includes, "End, mortality, destruction..." and
Etteilla, "Mortality, Annihilation, Destruction.End, Deterioration,
Rottenness, Corruption, Putrefaction..."
As is very clear from the charts of the sniper shootings,
death can be seen in a chart; the victims did not merely experience "change" and "transition".
Similarly, the Death card can mean death, though certainly not invariably.
