FIXED STAR TALISMAN

for Peace, Safety & Riches

The current chart is a talisman of the fixed star Deneb Algedi, Delta Capricornis, the "Tail of the Goat". Ptolemy says that the stars in the tail of Capricorn are the nature of Saturn and Jupiter. Tetrabiblos, Bk. I, ch. 9. We will be casting silver Deneb Algedi talismans!
We have an interesting split in our sources for the talismans of Deneb Algedi. Cornelius Agrippa says, "Under the tail of Capricorn they made the image of an Hart, or Goat, or of an angryman; it bestoweth prosperity, and increaseth wrath." Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Bk II, ch 47. Agrippa's source, however, Hermes on the 15 Fixed Stars says, "gives favor in lawsuits, improves the home in which it is kept, keeps it [the home] secure, and increases all manner of riches." The Book of Hermes on the 15 fixed stars, BM Bodleian MS. 52, ff. 44-47, Translated by John Michael Greer.
As is usual when we run across discrepancies in the 17th century JF English translation of Three Books of Occult Philosophy we need to check the original Latin. It says, "Under the tail of Capricorn make the image of a hart or he-goat or an angry man, which gives prosperity and augments life." Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk II, ch 47. Latin critical edition ed Compagni (Brill, 1992) at 367, trans. Christopher Warnock, Esq.
We have the further testimony of the Renaissance mage Marsilio Ficino who follows Hermes on the 15 Fixed Stars and says of Deneb Algedi, "They think is furthers favor in lawsuits, increases wealth and makes men and their homes safe." Three Books on Life Bk. III, ch 8. Hermes on the 15 Fixed Stars says of Deneb Algedi that its stone is chalcedony and herb marjoram.

Agrippa explains how to make fixed star talismans,

"Now the manner of making these kinds of Rings, is this, viz. when any Star ascends fortunately, with the fortunate aspect, or conjunction of the Moon, we must take a stone, and Hearb that is under that Star, and make a Ring of the Metall that is sutable to this Star, and in it fasten the stone, putting the Hearb, or root under it; not omitting the inscriptions of images, names, and Characters, as also the proper suffumigations, but we shall speak more of these in another place, where we shall treat of Images, and Characters.

Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Bk I, ch. 47.
