Hermes Trismegistus
ermeticism, the spiritual and practical teachings attributed to the ancient sage Hermes Trismegistus constitutue a hidden stream of esoteric wisdom that has been of continuing influence and importance in Western civilization. From its first flourishings in 1st to 3rd century Alexandrian Egypt to its subsequent rebirth in the Renaissance to our current Hermetic revival, the figure of Hermes Trismegistus and the Hermetic arts of astrology, alchemy and magic have exerted an wondrous fascination and subtle, but significant influence on Western society.
This lecture will focus on the spiritual path of Hermeticism and its relationship to astrological magic, the union of the Hermetic arts of astrology and magic. We will explore the origins and history of Hermeticism, the Hermetica, the writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, both technical and philosophical. How is it that the seemingly mundane goals of astrological talismans, which often seek wealth, love or power, can be part of a spiritual journey?
The ancient teachings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus and the insights of our illustrious predecessors on the Hermetic path have much to offer us as we explore the fascinating world of astrology and magic and traverse our own esoteric and spiritual journeys.
The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Keeney Memorial Center at 200 Main Street in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Admission is free for members of the Astrological Society of Connecticut and $10 for non-members. Please call the ASC Infoline at (860) 568-8617 or check the ASC Web site for information regarding the venue, directions or weather cancellation.

strological talismans are an ancient combination of the Hermetic arts of astrology and magic. By using the incredible accuracy of the myriad techniques of traditional electional astrology the mage can precisely gauge the appropriate time to create an astrological talisman. Using the proper materials and designs, as set out in our traditional sources, the astrological mage then uses ceremonial magic as well as meditation and visualization to create powerful astrological talismans.
Christopher Warnock is a master of traditional electional astrology and a leading astrological magician.
