Nigel Jackson, born in 1963, lives in Manchester, England and is a well-known artist and illustrator specializing in the symbolism of Western Esoteric Tradition: he is deeply immersed in the traditional Tarot of 15th century Lombardy, the magical teachings of medieval-renaissance astrological philosopher-magi such as Ficino, Agrippa and Bruno and the talismanic Image-Magic of the Moorish-medieval current exemplified in the fabled grimoire the Picatrix.
An Illuminationist and Hermeticist in the Transcendent Tradition, Nigel has been involved for over 20 years in expressing the symbolic 'language of the gods' through his visual art which he views as an initiatory 'alchemy of the imagination.' Nigel's beautiful and evocative Rumi Tarot has been published by Llewellyn. Nigel's amazing astrological magic images are available as Posters!
Nigel has received Minor and Major Holy Orders in the Gnostic ecclesiastical tradition, including Catholic and Syro-Oriental successions. He is also an initiate of the theurgic rites of the 'Ordre des Chevaliers Maçon Elus Cohen de l'Univers', the Rose-Croix d'Orient and Eques A Sancti Iohannes Apostolica (EASIA) and has been initiated into two traditional Sufi chains of filiation, a Maraboutic lineage from the Maghrib and a Qalandar lineage from Central Asia.

This is not, like many contemporary Tarot decks, full of photo-shopped images. Each card was individually painted and the images are incredible! Nigel has really captured the Persian/Moghul miniature style though staying within the overall scheme of the standard Rider-Waite deck.
Each card is paired with a specific quote from Rumi and its spiritual import as well as divinatory significance is fully elucidated in the voluminous accompanying book. I really can't say too much about the stunning visual images of the Rumi Tarot. Clearly a must have for Tarot collectors, but also a true manifestation of the Tarot as spiritual wisdom visually encapsulated.
