Algol is the second brightest star of the constellation Perseus and thus is sometimes referred to as Beta Persei. The name Algol, says Richard Hinckley Allen, comes from the Arabic Ras Al-Ghul, which literally means the Mischief Maker. Star Names (Dover, 1963) page 332. Algol is called the Demon, the Demon Star and is also known as the Blinking Demon because it is part of a binary star system where a dimmer star periodically eclipses its brighter partner.

The election is for 10:10 pm MDT, September 9, 2009 for Boulder, Colorado, and we will be casting Algol talismans on this date. The fixed star Algol rises and the Moon applies to conjoin Algol. I am pleased to offer beautiful silver talismans of Algol. They are about an 1 inch in diameter with about 12 grams of silver. After being cast at the elected time, the talismans were then consecrated and a leather cord added. Each talisman comes with a color Nigel Jackson image of the Algol for mediation and visualization as well as full consecration and ritual instructions. Only a very few of these talismans were made. They are unique and the timing of their election can never be replicated. These are not the usual mass produced pewter "talismans" but made from pure sterling silver.
