Saturn Talisman Back ENLARGED The beautiful image on the front of the Saturn talisman, which you can see above, is by the contemporary artist/mage Nigel Jackson from the image description of the Renaissance mage, Cornelius Agrippa who says, "...for they made, from the operations of Saturn...the Image of a man, having the countenance of an Hart, and Camels seet and sitting upon a Chayr or Dragon, holding in his right hand, a sithe, in his left hand a dart; which image they did hope would be profitable for prolongation of life; Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Bk II, ch. 38. This is somewhat of a composite image since Agrippa's key source, the ancient astrological magic grimoire, Picatrix, says, Saturn Image included "The image of Saturn according to the opinion of the sage Picatrix is the form of a man with the face of a [crow or stag] and the feet of a camel, sitting on a throne. In his right hand he has a spear and in his left hand a lance or dart. This is its form..." Picatrix Bk II, ch. 10, Greer & Warnock trans at 105. translation available here. On the back of the talisman which you can see above to right, moving from left to right is first the standard planetary symbol of Saturn, then the seal of Saturn and the sigil of the Intelligence of Saturn. The Picatrix says that Saturn rules, "...profound sciences, and in the science of laws and seeking out the causes and roots of things and their effects, and speaking of miracles and understanding deep and secret qualities."
