Introduction
In the
Neoplatonic/Hermetic worldview the heavenly bodies were the
essential link between the World of the Divine Ideas and the Material World. The
astrologer uses these these sympathies and interconnections for the predictions
using natal, mundane and horary astrology.
These types
of traditional astrology focus on Fate: asking what will or has happened? Even
electional astrology which allows us to choose
astrologically propitious time to take action, like the other varieties of
astrology, is essentially passive as the astrologer merely observes the action
of the Divine ideas mediated through the Zodiacal powers on the material and sublunary
realm.
A
strological magic, however, through the construction
of astrological talismans allows the mage or
magical astrologer to directly affect and utilize the chains of sympathy and correspondence
that permeate the Cosmos. By choosing an astrologically propitious times through
electional astrology and constructing talismans with
appropriate characters, signs, and symbols as well as appropriate fumigations, rituals
and music, a wide variety of effects can be achieved.

In his Three Books of Occult Philosophy
the famous Renaissance astrologer and mage Cornelius Agrippa
says that a Jupiter talisman,
"[C]onduceth to gain and riches, favor and love, peace and concord, and to appease enemies,
to confirm honours, dignities, and counsels; and dissolve enchantments..."

As we can see the Jupiter talisman gives prosperity and good fortune.
How Is the Jupiter Talisman Made?

From August 2002 to August 2003 Jupiter in
Leo and thus dignified by
triplicity at night as the
night ruler of fire signs. We then place him in the Midheaven
or Ascendant where he is best able to manifest his effects. We make sure that he
is not afflicted by a conjunction, square or opposition to
Saturn or Mars, who are naturally
malefic planets, or by bad aspects from the rulers of the 8th, 12th and 6th houses.
We would like the Moon to be strong and making a favorable aspect,
either a sextile, trine or conjunction to Jupiter.
We would also, if possible, like it to be the day of Jupiter (Thursday) and his
planetary hour.
At our chosen time we engrave the table of Jupiter on one
side of a specially prepared silver plate, as directed by Agrippa. The
table of Jupiter is a magic square, an arrangement of numbers in which the vertical,
horizontal and diagonal rows all add up to the same number. Each planet has a
different magic square associated with it. On the other side we engrave the seal of
Jupiter as well as various characters, symbols and signs.
As desired by the client a Jupiter talisman can be made either as
a necklace or bracelet and can be strung on a leather cord or a string of Jupiter ruled
precious stones and gems like amethyst and green jasper.

Each Jupiter talisman also includes a beautiful image
by artist
and occult researcher Nigel Jackson.
The image consists of a crowned man wearing a
sky blue robe seated on a throne carried by four youths with wings and beech staves.
Clients will receive a full size
color versions of the Nigel Jackson Jupiter image which are ideal for invocation,
meditation and visualization. Note the image shown to left
is similar to the Nigel Jackson Jupiter image, but has been altered
to be unusuable magically if downloaded.
Do You Mass Produce Talismans?

Each talisman is unique and engraved by hand for an individual
client. If possible, I will examine the birth chart of each client in order to
calibrate the talisman to each individual. For example, if a client has Jupiter ruling the
8th house, for example, or in a particularly afflicted state in their natal horoscope
it is probably not advisable for them to wear a Jupiter talisman.
In addition, the election of a time for making talismans is not
based merely on a single astrological factor, like the phases of the Moon, but a
full traditional astrological analysis encompassing many factors.
