Astrological Talisman of the Sun For Fame and Power from Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy

Give me the splendid silent sun, with all his beams full-dazzling!

Walt Whitman

This week's election comes from the Three Books of Occult Philosophy of Cornelius Agrippa. In Book Two, Chapter 22, Agrippa discusses the tables of the planets. These are "magic squares" in which a row of numbers added either horizontally, vertically or diagonally, give the same result. Here is an interesting site by a mathematician on Magic Squares, Stars and other patterns.
Agrippa says that the table of the Sun, is a square of six with thirty six numbers. Each vertical, diagonal or horizontal row adds up to 111 and the sum of all the numbers in the square is 666.
This being engraven on a golden plate with the Sun being fortunate, renders him that wears it to be renowned, amiable, acceptable, potent in all his works, and equals a man to kings and princes, elevating him to high fortunes, enabling him to do whatsoever he pleases...
Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk. II, Chapter 22, (Tyson ed.) page 319.
It adds to our understanding of the nature of the Sun when we note that if the table of the Sun is engraved with an unfortunate Sun, "...it makes a tyrant, and a man to be proud, ambitious, unsatisfiable, and to have an ill ending. Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk. II, Chapter 22, (Tyson ed.) page 319. Like our earlier Chart of the Week where we considered a Venus Election for Lust & Lechery we do not fully understand the nature of the Sun, unless we consider its shadow side. All vices, it has been said, are virtues taken beyond the bounds of moderation.

The time for the making of the talisman is November 25, 2001 at 11:55 am EST (+5) (Hey, finally an election that's not at 4 am!) in Washington, D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03.
The Sun is dignified because he is in Sagittarius which is a fire sign and under the Dorothean triplicity rulerships, the Sun rules the fiery signs by day.
The Sun is also well placed as he is conjunct the Midheaven, an appropriate placement for a talisman for fame and power as the tenth house signifies kings, nobles and those in authority as well as honor and dignity. William Lilly Christian Astrology page 55.
It is Sunday, the planetary day of the Sun as well as planetary hour of Mars. The Key of Solomon says that, In the Days and Hours of Mars thou canst make experiments regarding War ; to arrive at military honour; to acquire courage ; to overthrow enemies ; and further to cause ruin, slaughter, cruelty, discord ; to wound and to give death. S. Liddell MacGregor Mathers, The Key of Solomon the King page 12. Thus while we would prefer it to be the hour of the Sun the hour of Mars is not inappropriate for a talisman of power.
We note that the Moon is applying to a trine of the Sun and that the trine is with reception as the Moon is in Aries the exaltation of the Sun. The Moon is well placed in the second house.
For the best effect try to finish the construction of the talisman by 12:15 pm when the Sun moves far enough into the ninth house that he is no longer conjunct the Midheaven.
At the elected time write the table of the Sun on paper using gold ink or for longer lasting and more powerful effect, engrave the table on a gold plate.

On the reverse side place the Seal of the Sun shown to right. You can add the divine names associated with the Sun, Vau and Eloh, as well as the name of Raphael who is the angel of the Sun. Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk II, Chapter 22, (Tyson ed.) page 320; Bk. III, Chapter 24, (Tyson ed.) page 532.
Add your own name, personal symbol, if you have one or create a logo using your initials. Finally you should write or engrave your goal or intention for the talisman, e.g. wealth, health or security in a journey.
